Primary Purpose and Goal
The System Specialist, DevOps is a pivotal role within the Technical Product Management organization, tasked with ensuring robust support for systems utilized by application development teams. Collaborating closely with Product Owners, the System Specialist, DevOps oversees the day-to-day configuration (including coding) and support responsibilities for these products. This role is instrumental in driving the support team to peak productivity, offering coaching, mentorship, and resolving any impediments faced by the L1/L2/L3 support teams. Additionally, the System Specialist, DevOps plays a critical role in system administration, contributes to strategic planning alongside Product Owners, and adopts a hands-on approach to advance processes. The role also involves liaising with Product Owners to provide system data (e.g., access logs, configuration settings, user manifests) to internal Compliance Teams for scheduled analyses.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Collaborate with Product Owners to maintain Product Documentation, including Configuration Guides and User Guides.
Work with Product Owners to uphold data management standards.
Facilitate the development and deployment of system integration strategies that leverage common tools and processes.
Provide technical leadership in developing and validating improved processes, technologies, and large-scale systems for customers and stakeholders.
Coordinate with product suppliers for enhancements and issues unresolved in-house.
Generate weekly and monthly operational reports.
Manage users, groups, and projects.
Participate in technical review boards and offer technical support and consultation for tools managed by the Technical Product Management group.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams virtually and in person to support production and release new vendor software upgrades, operating system upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, and migration of services from data centers.
Coordinate the installation of upgrades and patches.
Assist with internal and external communication to improve transparency and disseminate information.
Support DevOps practices for project teams utilizing Azure DevOps, Fortify, GitHub, and Mend.
Liaise with Product Owners to provide system data to internal Compliance Teams during scheduled and ad-hoc audits.
Spend up to 20% of the time managing and coaching the Support Teams and the end-user community.
Management and Competencies
Experience with Microsoft and software development.
Experience with Fortify on Demand, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Advanced Security for Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Defender – DevOps Security
Qualifications: Preferred
Experience with Agile transformation in organizations.
Hands-on experience with metrics and tracking tools (e.g., PowerBI).
Capability to manage internal IT teams, contractors, and onshore/offshore partner resources.
Experience in developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise solutions.
Proven experience in developing team members and serving as a role model.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and convey technical information to IT professionals.
International experience and the ability to work in diverse environments across cultures and time zones, with availability for international travel at short notice and participation in international calls outside of standard working hours.
